Farmer Brown Goes To Town (2)

A farmer took his veggies

To the market in the town

He parked his well stocked wagon

On a shady piece of ground

The people came from far and wide

To find the cheapest and best goods

But never did they stop to look

At where the produce farmer stood

His pumpkins were the largest

The corn as sweet as honey

The beans and peas the greenest

But still he made no money

When finally it was time to go

A small child came around to say

My family's hungry for your food

Then offers pennies and some hay

To the boy the farmer said

I feel keenly your distress

And waived aside his offer

Then gave him all his best

The greedy people of the town

At once did see the boy's conquest

Then rushed forth with similar tales

And demanded a like bequest

Then Farmer Brown did reply

Right here I've been all this day

You never stopped once to look

And now this is what you say

You people are way to greedy

The produce farmer yelled and said

The boy who left did want to pay

But I gave him the food instead

I hope someday you'll all see

The reasoning of my tale

If you must act so badly

All you do will surely fail

The moral to this story is

That people who always show greed

Will never get to get free goods

That they're thinking they really need

So if you see a merchant

Selling all his hard earned wares

Recall this farmer's story

Treat him right; and always fair

A Farmer took his veggies

To the market in the town

But never ever stopped to look at

Where the produce farmer stood

Needing food and saying that all he could offer

Is two pennies and some leggings

The farmer not at all aggrieved

Felt keenly the lads distress

And waived aside the young man's offer

And gave him all his best

When the greedy people of the town

Saw the boy's conquest

They all rushed forth with a similar tale

And asked for a like bequest

To this the farmer did reply

I've been here all this day

You never stopped just once to look

And now this is what you say

You people are too greedy

The produce farmer said

The boy who left did offer to pay

He's worthy of my produce my heart has told my head

I hope someday you all can see

The moral of my tale

If you must treat others badly

Your endeavors will surely fail

The moral to this story is

That people who show greed

Never get to get free goods

They think they really need

So if you see a merchant

Selling his hard earned wares
